Epitalon
Epithalon, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly
Epitalon is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide modeled on epithalamin, an extract from the pineal gland. It is popular in longevity circles, but it is not FDA-approved and its human evidence is thin.
Key facts
- Commonly discussed for: healthy aging, sleep and telomere support.
- Evidence (D): Most data are cell and animal studies (for example telomere work in human cell lines). Human reports come largely from one Russian research group, and the best known, a 266-person elderly cohort, used the epithalamin extract rather than synthetic Epitalon.
- FDA status: PCAC recommended. On July 24, 2026 the PCAC voted 7-4 (1 abstention) to recommend Epitalon for the 503A Bulks List for insomnia; FDA must still publish a proposed rule; none appeared in the Federal Register as of October 1, 2026.
- Legitimate access: No clear legal route yet.
- Last reviewed: October 1, 2026.
